The Great Sphinx

One thing that makes Egypt popular is the sphinx of Giza. A sphinx is a mythological figure which is depicted as a lion with a human head. The ancient Greeks applied their own name for the male monster, the "strangler", an archaic figure of Greek mythology. Generally the role of sphinxes was as temple guardians; they were placed in association with architectural structures such as royal tombs or religious temples.

Here is something you should know about the Sphinx of Giza:

The Sphinx of Giza is NOT the first sphinx built in the history. It is the oldest in Egypt but the oldest known sphinx was found in Gobekli Tepe, Turkey and was dated to 9,500 B.C.

Chile: Poetry is the Heart of Literature

Poetry is a form of literary art in which language is used for its aesthetic and evocative qualities in addition to, or in lieu of, it’s apparent meaning. Poetry has been a part of every country’s literature. But admit it or not, there are some who almost forgot what poetry or a poem is. There are several reasons why some almost forgot poems… but I think, one of the reason is… they find poetry boring.

But for the Chileans, poetry is the heart of their literature. They are people who have big respect and admiration to poems. That is why their country is called país de poetas—country of poets. Their poems commonly talks about romance, nature, and politics. Some of their world-renown poets are Vicente Huidobro and Nicanor Parra (both are contenders for Nobel Prize in literature) and Jose Donoso, the author of novel The Obscene Bird of the Night which is considered by critic Harold Bloom to be one of the cononical works of Twentieth Century Western literature.

See?! Poems still live in people’s heart, though not everybody… at least there is.

French Fries in Belgium

Who wants fries?! Hmm... I think everybody out there loves eating French fries… right?!

French fries have been a crowd favorite since then, not only because it is easy to cook and is heavy to the tummy but also because it can be served with different flavors and dips.

But do you know how “French fries” came to be?! Well… I’ll give you a little trivia. In 1980, the poor inhabitants of a place somewhere in Belgium was starving to death for they get no fish (main meal) from the river for it is frozen so what they did is cut potatoes lengthwise and fried them in oil to accompany their meals… and poof! French fries came into the world! As of now, French Fries or frietes, as it is called in Belgium, is considered as their national snack.

Why was it called ‘French fries’ rather than ‘Belgian Fries’ is another story.

Amsterdam Trip

Amsterdam is a place I was able to visit. It has its Red Light District and hash-selling coffee shops, but they are just a small part of this world-class city. Studded with canals and bridges, Amsterdam begs to be explored by foot or bike. When I was there, I visited the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museum and shopped at the Waterlloplein flea market. The locals are famously friendly, so strike up a chat (most speak English) over a beer at a brown café. If you want a vacation with a great experience, go in here.

Mexico cuisine

Mexico's cuisine is one of the best! :) One reason why I definitely enjoyed staying there is there food. I am a person who loves eating spicy foods. And Mexico got my taste! :) Mexican cuisine is often served with chili powder, cumin, oregano, cilantro, epazote, cinnamon, and cocoa. Chipotle, a smoke-dried jalapeño chili, is also common in Mexican cuisine. Many Mexican dishes also contain garlic and onions. In restaurants, you'll really feel very comfortable and respected because they'll serve you with food as kings and queens. Hmmm... sumptuous foods and everything! Maybe, all of the ingredients are found here. Wow!

Cairo: A historical place

Cairo, Egypt is one of the most historical places here on earth. Also, it is my most desired spot for a vacation. You know, Egypt is a place full of history and that is why when I have the chance to visit that place, I'd definitely not waste time and go place to place there. I also wanted to explore the sphinx and the great pyramid. it's cone shaped structure makes me wonder how it is made. It is a pure entertainment when you see one, you'll just smile and say, "Wow'.

Famous botanical garden

I am a very outgoing person. I love out of town/country trips. One place I want to go to is Australia, particularly at Canberra. I love to visit their famous botanical garden where in lots of species of plants and flowers are taken cared of. I am really fond of taking good care of plants, specially vegetables. I and my mother would definitely love to cook and eat vegetables that we planted.

Another place is the Tidinbilla Nature Reserve where in it is famous for being a great hiking spot. Hiking is an outdoor activity which consists of walking in natural environments, often on hiking trails. Really exciting! I hope I can afford a trip to Australia as soon as possible.
